Book Review: “The 4-Hour Workweek” by Timothy Ferris

“The 4-Hour Workweek” by Timothy Ferris contains a handful of ideas on how to work smarter and not harder with the goal of creating a lifestyle that gets you off the typical ‘treadmill’ type of job while providing more freedom and income(per hour worked). Many of the author’s suggestions would be very difficult for the average person to implement due to constraints like a mortgage, kids, etc. Just the same, he does provide very creative suggestions and insights that could be valuable to most people. I was actually able to benefit greatly from the book’s key concepts of elimination, automation and outsourcing. The book also provided significant motivation by presenting the possibilities of a life where work is balanced with life outside of work as described by ‘mini-retirements’.

Whle the book and the concepts sometimes seem a bit overhyped I did enjoy the book and found it very motivational and I would highly recommend this book.
